The Pixels to Inches Converter can be downloaded as a standalone executable 'Flash Player 8 Projector File' - there is no need to install any Flash plugins/players!

Download the converter ZIP file using either the "Download Windows Version" or "Download Mac Version" button. Instructions

Pixels to Inches

If you have an image you wish to print, you will want to know how big it will be on paper, and maybe resize or crop it accordingly.

  1. Enter your image width and height in pixels.
  2. Enter the dpi (dots per inch), sometimes called the ppi (pixels per inch).
  3. Select "Pixel to Inch" from the drop-down list.
  4. Press the "Convert it!" button.
  5. The result is shown in the box labelled "Result".

Inches to Pixels

If you wish to print an image in a particular size (e.g., 5" x 3" photo), then you need to know the pixel dimensions on the screen.

  1. Enter your desired width and height in inches.
  2. Enter the dpi (ppi).
  3. Select "Inch to Pixel" from the drop-down list.
  4. Press the "Convert it!" button.
  5. The result is shown in the box labelled "Result".

Note

All figures are rounded to 2 decimal places (you will have to work out the fractions of inches for yourself).

Because you can not have part of a pixel (it's all or none), this figure has been rounded up to the nearest whole pixel. This means that when you reverse results (enter a number in pixels and convert to inches and then enter the result to get back the pixels) it won't always match exactly.

Any degree of error will only be in the magnitude of 1 or 2 pixels (0.01 inches).
